Our BBB Accreditation Standards

Any person, firm, partnership, corporation, or other type of business undertaking, applying for Accreditation from the Better Business Bureau, shall meet and maintain the following requirements and standards:

All applicants must read, complete and sign both sides of the Application for Accreditation.

A company must have been actively engaged in business in our market area for a minimum of one year. However, if the principals are known to the BBB, or if they have operated for the required time in another BBB’s service area, or if they have signed an agreement pre-committing them to binding Arbitration in connection with any customer disputes, the Board of Directors may consider their application.

A company must provide general information on the nature of their business and on their background of the company principals, or other information deemed necessary by the BBB, so that it may conduct the necessary background investigation to develop a factual public report on the company.

A company must agree to support the purpose and function of the BBB as defined in its by-laws.

A company must agree to promptly respond to any and all customer complaints presented by the BBB, and to make any required corrections and adjustments in a timely and business-like fashion.

A company’s advertising and selling practices must adhere to established advertising standards and they must agree to provide the Bureau with substantiation of any challenged advertising or selling claims.

A company’s public image or reputation shall not be of such a nature that in the opinion of the Better Business Bureau, it would unfavorably affect public opinion of the BBB, its members or objectives.
